In various words popular in /Quandry/-fandom meant the Okefenokee. Swampside was specifically Savannah (any part of Georgia could be meant) and Swamptone was the kind of paper on which Q and other Hoffman zines were mimeoed. (It was a sort of green-tinged off-white.) Swamp water has been portrayed as a beverage whose effects were more dreadful than Crottled Greeps with a Blog chaser.
