Second Australian Science Fiction Convention
The second Australian Natcon, held in Sydney in 1953.
Vol Molesworth was Chairman. Arthur W. Haddon was Secretary.
A detailed advertisement printed in issue 2 of Graham Stone's Science Fiction News is reproduced here.
The advertised dates were 1 - 2 - 3 May, 1953. However, the only event scheduled for Friday 1st May was a pre-convention dinner that was available as an optional extra. So, the convention could alternatively be reported as running 2 - 3 May, 1953, as in a convention report by Rex Meyer that was first published in Jimmy Taurasi's Fantasy-Times and is reproduced in issue 22 of Chris Nelson's Mumblings From Munchkinland.
A convention report by I. J. Crozier was published in issue 5 of Etherline. It mentions that the original booking for the Friday event was cancelled, and a different site got used.
A photo from the convention printed in issue 6 of Science Fiction News is reproduced here. There is a digitally enhanced version in a supplement to issue 26 of Mumblings From Munchkinland.
