Midwestern fan, member of First Fandom, founder of Little Monsters of America, member of the Midwest Nomads, member of the Alien Science-Fantasy Club, was one of the founders of Pulpcon. Chair of Illwiscon.
He was publisher of the fanzines J. D. Argassy, Pulp Era, Pack Rat, The Little Monsters of America, The Little Corpuscle, Wauseon Wonder Stories, Huckleberry Finnzine, The Goody Gumdrop Boys at Jellybean Mountain, and Gooseberries, and publisher of Who Killed Science Fiction? and Why Is a Fan?. He used the pen name of Plato Jones.
J.D. Argassy was nominated for the 1959 Best Fanzine Hugo and the 1960 Best Fanzine Hugo. He shared the 1983 Rebel Award with John Guidry and received the 1992 Lamont Award.
