James White

(7 April 1928 - 23 August 1999)

James White was born and lived in Belfast, working as a publicity officer for Short Bros., though he grew up in Canada. He was an active fan, one of the Wheels of IF, working on both Slant and Hyphen. He also had a successful career as a science fiction writer. He was GoH at L.A.Con III in 1996. He received nomination for the 1951 Best Fan Writer Retro Hugo and 1951 Best Fan Artist Retro Hugo as well as the 1954 Best Fan Writer Retro Hugo. He received the Doc Weir Award in 1985. Married to Peggy White.
