David Pringle

(1950 —)

A UK SF editor who edited Foundation 1980 - 1986, during which time he was one of the prime movers of the collective which founded Interzone in 1982. By 1988, he was its publisher and editor which continued until he sold it to Andy Cox in 2004.

He co-chaired Yorcon and Yorcon II, the 1979 and 1982 Eastercons. He was one of the founders (in 1973) of a Leeds Friday-night SF club.

Through Interzone, Pringle was nominated for many Best Semiprozine Hugos, winning the 1995 Best Semiprozine Hugo. Interaction, the 2005 Worldcon gave him a Special Committee Award for his work on Interzone.

He is a noted scholar of J. G. Ballard and from 1981 to 1996 published a Ballard fanzine, first titled News From the Sun then JGB News. He was editor of the Science Fiction Foundation journal Foundation from 1980 to 1986.
