Charles A. Spano, Jr. is a teacher and SF author.

He co-wrote one of the first original novels based on the Star Trek TV series, Spock, Messiah! (co-authored with Theodore R. Cogswell). It was first published by Bantam Books (1976).

Spano was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He is married to Mary Rose McAndrew, and they have four children.

Among his other writings are the short-short story, “Drawing Board,” published in Microcosmic Tales (1980), an anthology edited by Isaac Asimov, Martin H. Greenberg, and Joseph D. Olander; and the short story, “Grain of Truth,” published in Analog (December, 1980). The latter story was reprinted in the SF anthology, A Spadeful of Spacetime (Ace, 1981), edited by Fred Saberhagen.
