Central Zone
A zone defined in the old rotation plan, but now used only for elections to the Mark Protection Committee, consisting of: Central America, the islands of the Caribbean, Mexico (except those parts in the Western Zone), and all states, provinces, and territories between the Western Zone and the Eastern Zone.
At the 1984 Worldcon Business Meeting, Ben Yalow advocated switching to a two zone (Eastern and Western) rotation system "in order to eliminate wimpy bids," which gave rise to the term "The Wimpy Zone" used to describe the Central Zone.
