- "Time Out" by Connie Willis [Asimov's Jul 1989]
- "Tiny Tango" by Judith Moffett [Asimov's Feb 1989]
"Marid Changes His Mind" by George Alec Effinger received enough votes on the nominating ballot to be on the final ballot, but was withdrawn by the author.
