Michicon 1, the 1941 Michiconference (also known as the Michigan First Annual Science Fiction and Fantasy Conference) was a convention held November 16, 1941 in a Jackson, MI hotel. John Millard was chairman.
Cover art donated by Ziff-Davis brought in $3 to $5 at auction. (The convention was remembered for a bed collapsing from too many fans on it.) One of the great fears expressed at time time was that the prozines might all go extinct — which seems to be a real possibility. Later, the group went to the home of E. E. Smith for a bull session.
The Mid-West Fantasy Fan Federation was organized there, with directors from each of the states represented.
